Heating and hot water for low-rent housing

When Inolya, the leading social landlord in the Calvados department, decided to upgrade the heating systems in its 61-flat residence in Fleury-sur-Orne in 2018, it chose Power Road® to supply 70% of the energy to heat the homes and water in four of the five buildings.

The installation to heat a 4,725 sq. metre area:

  • Power Road® area: 1,420 sq. metres
  • 12 loops reaching 140 metres deep for inter-season storage
  • Two 50 kW water-to-water heat pumps
  • Plus two 180 kW gas-fired heaters to supplement the Power Road® system and cover the remaining 30% of needs

The building’s thermal renovation and Power Road® installation earned the residence low-carbon certification and European Regional Development Fund grants.

The landlord was able to deduct the cost of the associated works from its property tax.

Energy renovation works in residential units also qualify for reduced (5.5%) VAT in France.
